Executive Director

 Kody Suanny, executive director of Great Plains Youth and Family Services, Inc. (GPYFS), has dedicated her professional career to improving the lives of youth and families throughout southwestern Oklahoma. She started at GPYFS as a behavior outpatient counselor before being named executive director in 2012. Under her direction, the agency has grown and covers 15 counties, 10 programs, and three office locations in Hobart, Altus, and Cache. She spearheaded the creation of the Great Plains Early Learning Center in Hobart, which opened in 2023 and provides childcare for 46 kids ages 0-5. Honored with Hobart’s Citizen of the Year award in 2021, she serves on several committees and maintains a membership in a variety of statewide and community organizations, including the Oklahoma Association of Youth Services, the Hobart Elementary Education Parent Association, the Kiowa County Health Coalition, the Kiwanis Club of Hobart, and the Hobart City Council Zoning Committee. She graduated from Southwestern Oklahoma State University with a Master of Education in community counseling in 2007 and from Oklahoma State University with a Bachelor of Science in human development and family science in 2005. 

Business Manager

 Heather began her work at GPYFS in 2004.  She currently serves as the Business Manager.  Heather grew up in Hobart and earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting degree with a minor in Finance from Oklahoma State University.  She is married to Jeff and has four children; Jessica, Sarah, Kensey, and Ryne, and many grandchildren; that continue to increase. The family also has a pet lab fish named Jagger that keeps them on their toes and always laughing.  Heather enjoys reading, watching tv, and hunting.  Her favorite family activities are going to the movies, , hunting with her husband, and going out to eat.

 Sarah began working with GPYFS in 2019 as the TSET Healthy Living Program Assistant Coordinator. She then began work as the Community Education Coordinator, teaching Parenting and Anger Management in 2020. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Oklahoma State University in Human Development and Family Science. She enjoys spending time with her three boys, husband, and reading various books in her spare time. Sarah is currently the Executive Assistant at the GPYFS Hobart location. She is passionate about helping people.

Lindsey joined GPYFS in 2012 as a Behavioral Outpatient Counselor and has since advanced her career, earning a Bachelor of Social Work in 2011 and a Master of Science in Community Counseling in 2013 from Southwestern Oklahoma State University. In 2018, she obtained her Oklahoma State Board of Behavioral Health - Licensed Professional Counselor.

Lindsey currently is working in our counseling department as the referral coordinator and focusing on cognitive behavioral therapy with the adolescent youth.

Having grown up in Cordell and Mountain View Communities, Lindsey has deep roots in Washita County due to her family's long history in the area. She continues to reside in Washita County to this day. Lindsey recently married Daron and is a proud mother to four children: Graydon, Kaisyn, McKessyn, & Walker. The McDaugale family has several fur babies: Roxy (the spunky dog), Copper (the lazy dog) & Trex (the loud cat).  In her free time, Lindsey enjoys attending her children's sporting events, reading, cooking, and cherishing her role as a mother.

 Krystal Warnes began her work at Great Plains Youth and Family Services, Inc. in January 2019 as a Community Outreach Specialist. Krystal earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Oklahoma Christian University in 2016. In 2020, Krystal graduated from Cameron University with a Master of Science in Behavioral Sciences,  and became a Licensed Professional Counselor. Prior to working for GPYFS, Krystal worked at Southwestern Behavioral Health Center as a Mental Health Technician. Krystal is originally from Lawton but moved to Altus after marrying her husband, Andrew Warnes, in November of 2018. Andrew and Krystal currently have one son, and a very spoiled pup named Midge. Krystal’s favorite activities are hanging out with friends and family, playing card games and board games, avidly watching movies, reading, and baking.

 Jodi began her work at Great Plains Youth and Family Services, Inc. in January 2022 as a Community Outreach Specialist. She is from Hobart and has her bachelor's degree in business administration and her master's degree in school counseling. Jodi is married to Kirby and they have two children Cooper and Chase. Her hobbies include reading and watching her boys play sports. The Gray family has three dogs Douglas, Rocky, and Cujo. Jodi and her family love to travel to new places and love going to sporting events together.   

 Foster Care & Host Home Specialist

 Meagan joined GPYFS September 2018 as a Community Outreach Specialist. She is from Denton, Texas. Meagan graduated from Southwestern Assemblies of God University in Waxahachie Texas in 2016 and obtained her Bachelor of Science in Counseling with a minor in Marriage and Family Therapy, and an A.A. in Psychology and  Biblical Studies. Meagan received her Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. Meagan is married to Scott and they have two sons, Leo and Gabriel, and two dogs, Winston and Sadie.  She enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, watching sports, especially Texas Football, and working on projects.  

 Program Director & Community Based Youth Services Coordinator

​​​Kim began her work at GPYFS in January 2019 as a program director. Kim formerly worked for the State Department of Health for 15.5 years until a reduction in force terminated her position as parentPRO supervisor. Prior to being a parentPRO supervisor Kim served 13 years with the Immunization Division of the State Dept of Health. Kim’s hometown is Altus. She graduated from Navajo High School, received her Associates degree from Western Oklahoma State College, her Bachelor of Business Administration and Master of Science degree in Community Counseling from SWOSU. Kim also holds a license as an Assisted Living Administrator.  Kim is very involved in the community where she currently serves as secretary of the Salvation Army Advisory Board, the president of Altus Animal Welfare Association, vice chair of Community Based Services, treasurer of Jackson County Community Health Action Team and a member of the Homeless Consortium as well as a member of the Western Oklahoma Opioid Consortium.  Kim is married to Gerry Rumschlag, who works in the Emergency Department of Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Kim and Gerry do not have two-legged children, but currently have three 4-legged rescue kids. Kim works with two Oklahoma Pug Rescues as well as advocates for shelter animals. Kim and Gerry have rental property and spend a lot of their time remodeling homes, attending auctions and estate sales. Kim is also very involved in the care of her Godmother. Helping people and animals has been Kim’s life work.

 Program Assistant/Office Manager, Altus location

Ashley joins our team as the new Administrative Assistant at our Altus location. Ashley is originally from Virginia Beach, but was raised in Moore, Oklahoma. She graduated from Penn Foster College of Applied Science and has an A+ certification in IT from Moore Norman Technology Center. She enjoys mountain biking, road cycling, camping, and hanging out with her family. Ashley has a seven year old daughter, two fur babies, and eight chickens! She enjoys all things pink.

Rachel began her work at GPCCRR in 2005. She currently works as a Child Care Consultant. Rachel grew up in Newcastle, OK and earned a
Bachelor degree in Family Life: Child Development with a Minor in Psychology from the University of Central Oklahoma. She is married to her high school sweetheart,Jason and has two children, Nolan and Jayci. Rachel enjoys being creative, watching sports, being with her family, and playing with her two beagles, Ruby and Sydney.

​Lisa began working for GPYFS in 2018 but previously worked for the agency in 2005.  She is currently working as the Infant & Toddler Specialist with Child Care Resource & Referral.  Lisa grew up in Hobart and obtained her bachelor's degree in Mass Communication from SWOSU. She has five children; Callie, Avery, Boedey, Presley, and Dillen. Lisa spends most of her free time attending her children's sporting events (football, baseball, basketball, and softball). Lisa's favorite family activities include going golfing, fishing and of course anything sports related.

 GPCCRR Business Consultant

​Athena Jarvis is the Business Consultant with Great Plains Child Care Resource & Referral. She grew up in Ninnekah, Oklahoma and is raising her family in SW Oklahoma. Prior to joining, GPCCRR she worked with At-Risk HS students in the secondary setting. She has many years’ experience working in higher education. She was the PDSO-at Redlands Community College as well as an academic advisor.  She also has fundraising experience serving as the Director of Advancement and Scholarships at Cameron University, and Coordinator of Advancement at Redlands Community College. Athena also proudly led the Scholars For Excellence in Child Care grant program at Redlands Community College for 11 years. She also has 17 years of experience teaching General Education, Child Development, Business, and Research courses at the collegiate level. She has an undergraduate in Communication a minor in Psychology as well as her MBA.  As the Business Consultant for the SW Region Athena’s goals are to help expand the quality and efficiency of child-care centers and child-care home providers throughout the region.

 Originally from Alabama, Jennifer has lived in Southwest OK for 7 years.  She graduated from Athens State University (Alabama) with a BS in Early Childhood Education and has taught PreK-4th grade and Special Education for 15 years in Alabama, Maryland, and Oklahoma.  Jennifer has a daughter, two stepsons, two adorable granddaughters and is married to OC Hunt.  In her spare time, she loves Alabama Football, reading, and traveling.

Meet Emma Shandor, Supervisor of the PAT-Great Plains Program. Emma began her employment at Great Plains Youth and Family Services, Inc. (GPYFS) on August 2008 as a Family Support Worker, which later changed title to Parent Educator.  Emma grew up in the nearby community of Roosevelt. She attended one of the last few classes to graduate from Roosevelt High School. Emma got her bachelor’s degree in Education at Southwestern Oklahoma State University. Emma has a strong passion for the most vulnerable beings on earth. She loves animals, children, and the elderly. Emma currently has a spicy little cat named Deffany. Emma adopted Deffany for her uniqueness. Deffany is a polydactyly cat. Emma says, “My 25 years of teaching Special Needs children comes in handy when dealing with Deffany. She has a unique personality.” She also has a wiener dog name Susic, who has a high spirted personality.  Emma taught special education for 25 years. She not only taught in the state of Oklahoma, but also in the state of Michigan.” Emma was the primary caregiver for her mother who passed away in May 17, 2018. Outside of work, there was not a time or place that you did not see Emma without her mother. Emma has a lot of spike and it carries on to her daily job and home duties. Things get done! Fun Facts: Other then her love for animals, children, and the elderly, Emma loves to try different challenges. Emma loves the outdoors. She loves flowers and gardening, mowing with a pusher lawn mower, walking , and riding bikes with her best friend Phil. Emma likes to make things pretty. She loves crafts, painting, wood projects, making jewelry, and so much more! Emma loves food, much of what is not good for her, but the end of a hard week, Emma relaxes by making a good home cooked meal. Emma also loves country and western music. She says, “ George Straight has kept me awake during much of my travels!” Emma also loves movies. Comedy are her favorite. She says, “They make me laugh and I love to laugh!”

 Parent Educator

Mona began her work at GPYFS in 2018 and is currently working as a Parent Educator for PAT. She grew up in the Hobart/ Sentinel area and obtained her degree in Social Work from SWOSU. Mona is married to Jon and they have two children Jonathan and Laci. She is also the proud grandma to Emma, Ella, and Kelton . Mona and Jon have 5 dogs: Itchy, Scratchy, Beetle, Lefty, and Kona. Their favorite family activity is camping with their grandkids.

​Hope began her work at GPYFS in 2019 and is currently working as a Parenting Educator for proPAT. She grew up in Hobart and graduated from Western Oklahoma State College in 2015 with an Associate of science in Early Childhood and in 2017 from Southwestern Oklahoma State University with a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education. Hope enjoys reading, writing, watching movies, baking, and DIY projects/crafting. She has one fur child a cat named Ella. Hope also loves working on her photography business and spending time with her friends and family. 

TSET Successful Futures Coordinator

 Hannah began her work at Great Plains Youth and Family Services, Inc. in September 2019 as a TSET Healthy Living Program Assistant Coordinator and moved into the Coordinator position in January of 2022. She is a Hobart native and obtained her B.S. in Agricultural Communications at OSU in 2014. Prior to her time at GPYFS, Hannah spent time in Ghana doing development work. You can always find Hannah around the office with a cup of coffee. She is a mom to twin boys, Mason and Matthew. Hannah's favorite family activity is anything as long as they are all together!

 Sarah began her work at Great Plains Youth and Family Services, Inc. in February 2022 as the Healthy Living Program Assistant Coordinator. She is from Hobart and has the following education: A.S. Business Administration from WOSC, B.S. Healthcare Administration from SWOSU, Accounting Certificate from NWOSU. Sarah is married to Lewis and her children are Stetson and Addison and 4 bonus kiddos, Georgia, Trinity, Lilli and Ethan. Sarah's hobbies include reading and making things with her Cricut. The Keefer family has 3 dogs; Gizmo, Boss, and Matti, and the family likes to go fishing together and play board games.

 Misty George has lived in Southwest Oklahoma most of her life.  She moved to Hobart in January of 2002.  Misty has taught Mathematics for the past 33 years; 24 years at Hobart High School and 9 years at Western Oklahoma State College before retiring from education in May of 2023.  She has a daughter, Darcy, who teaches Biology at Altus High School.  In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, and playing golf.

Alicia resides in Caddo county with her husband, Kane, and daughter, Peyton. She is a 2019 graduate from Oklahoma State University, earning a Bachelor degree in Agricultural Communications. She enjoys visiting new places with her husband and daughter. She runs a small sheep operation with her husband raising club lambs  in Apache, OK. She also enjoys her dogs-Sayble and Gracie, as well as her cat-Waffles.
