PAT-Great Plains Supervisor
I grew up in SW OK, but attended New Mexico Military Institute in Roswell, NM for all four years of high school. Though I was accepted into the United States Military Academy at West Point, I chose to move closer to home and earned my BS in International Business with a minor in German at Oklahoma State University. I immediately went on to earn my MS in International Studies with a focus in Cultural Preservation from the School of International Studies, also at Oklahoma State University. While working towards my bachelor’s degree, my father passed away and while working on my master’s degree, my mother was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer. Knowing my time left with her was short, I chose to move home and care for her while I finished my master’s thesis remotely. It was during this time that I met my husband, quickly fell in love and married him shortly after my mother’s passing. He is my absolute best friend. Shortly thereafter, I was approached by a former GPYFS employee about working as a PAT Home Visitor here at Great Plains. I jumped on the opportunity and served as a Home Visitor for about three years before I decided to become a stay-at-home mom, as we were starting our own family. Six amazing children later, I have found myself back here at GPYFS sitting in the PAT Supervisor’s position and I couldn’t be happier. I am a licensed wildlife rehabilitator and have had the opportunity to teach my children about many different animals, as we have rehabbed hundreds of animals native to Oklahoma. A few of our favorites include: opossums, raccoons, deer and bobcats. Currently, one of our bobcats is residing permanently in Washington state. I enjoy traveling and have backpacked across Costa Rica, explored Germany a few times-I was only 14 when I went solo for the first time, and I have seen the eastern Australian coast twice. I love strength training and lifting in the gym, it is very cathartic for me! I look forward to quality time with my husband and children and my favorite animal is a wombat.
