Lia Adams grew up as an Army dependent all over the world and settled eventually in Oklahoma. She earned an Associate's Degree in journalism from WOSC, a Bachelor's Degree in criminology and Juvenile Corrections from OSU and a Master's Degree in psychology from Cameron University and completed her training for her LPC in 2002. She has been in counseling helping kids, the elderly, and the disabled for over 20 years. The past 10 years, she has been mostly in the schools working with children and teens, as well as their families, dealing with childhood trauma, anxiety issues and dysregulation. In 2019, she became a Certified Clinical Trauma Specialist for individuals, and she enjoys helping people with all forms of trauma including PTSD and C-PTSD. Trauma is her specialty, as well as issues of ADHD, Spectrum issues and Anxiety that impacts the lives of children and adults alike. She enjoys working with parents to break the cycle of generational trauma, as well as teens and adults that are recovering from trauma and trying not to repeat this pattern. She enjoys working for the LGBTQ+ community, as well as all others that have been marginalized in our country. She believes wholeheartedly in the findings of the ACE's and sees a new future in mental health care that involves regulating these patters rather than just cognitive behavioral therapy alone. She does not believe there are bad kids or adults, only the opportunity to learn good coping skills to break the cycle. She was a child of generational poverty and knows that resources are essential in breaking this pattern, so she is excited to also be working with the Family Resource Center. She loves animals and strives to help them all, as well as stand up for any marginalized community.
