Individual and Family Counseling

GPYFS Counseling Staff provides professional counseling services to youth and families presenting with a variety of issues. All counselors are master's level and are licensed or are license eligible. Counselors are trained to provide individual and family counseling to work with the whole family to ensure that the client's needs are met.
GPYFS Counseling Staff maintains the highest level of professionalism when providing services and maintains a client-centered focus. The duration of services depends on the level of need and the progress of the client

PosItive Lifestyles/In-Step

The Positive Lifestyles program is designed to improve the relationship between parents and youth ages 11 to 18 by providing a positive interaction.

The program teaches basic life and social skills such as communication, problem-solving, anger management, emotional regulation, making smart choices, cultural awareness, and family values.

Positive LifeStyles is a FREE program. The program has open enrollment to anyone wanting to participate.  It is a six-week course where participants meet one evening a week.  The program serves the areas of Washita, Beckham, Greer, Jackson, Harmon, Tillman, and Kiowa Counties. At least one parent or guardian must consistently attend each class with his or her child.

Parent goals of the program are to learn better ways to communicate with all family members, learn to listen and understand each other, reinforce and enhance positive parenting skills, and learn more effective means of discipline to change negative interactions.  Youth goals include how to deal with anger positively, the necessary skills to achieve self-control, how to make better decisions to avoid negative consequences, and how to problem-solve more effectively.

To enroll your child into the program, please call Lindsey McDaugale at (580)726-3383 to submit a referral and schedule an intake appointment.

Community At-Risk Services

Community At-Risk Services (CARS) is a program that provides services to at-risk youth who have entered into the juvenile system through a contract with the Office of Juvenile Affairs. In-office counseling and social services, family counseling, individual counseling, tutoring, and mentoring are all components of this program.

Referrals for the program are obtained through the Office of Juvenile Affairs.

School Based Counseling Services

Schools are the primary site in this program. Outreach counselors move from school to school reaching children and adolescents in seven counties with crisis intervention, individual counseling, group counseling, and educational programs. Behavior management consultation is also made available to school personnel. School systems served by outreach counselors are located in Kiowa, Greer, Harmon, Jackson, Tillman, and Beckham Counties.

To receive more information about the program and to see if your child's school is one of our approved sites, please call our counseling department at (580)726-3383.

Case Management

Case Management is a collaborative process of assessment, planning, facilitation, care coordination, evaluation, and advocacy for options and services to meet an individual’s and family’s comprehensive health needs through communication and available resources to promote quality, cost-effective outcomes.
